How Injection Foam Works

Your walls get filled. Your house gets proof. Your life gets one slightly noisy day — and decades of quiet, comfortable ones.
Here’s the entire process, start to finish, with nothing left out — because the more you know about how this works, the easier our job gets.

Think shaving cream that turns into a wall's best friend.

Injection foam goes into your wall cavity as a soft, flowing foam — about the consistency of shaving cream. It flows around everything already living in your walls: wiring, pipes, outlet boxes, blocking. Then it cures in place into a soft, stable fill that packs the cavity completely.

What makes it different from everything else you could put in a wall:

It fills 100% of the cavity — no voids, no gaps at the top, no missed corners around obstacles

It never settles. Blown cellulose and fiberglass compact over the years and leave the top of every cavity empty. Cured foam holds its shape for the life of the home

It air-seals as it insulates. The same fill that blocks heat blocks the air infiltration that makes rooms drafty and pipes freeze

It's the highest R-value you can put in your walls without tearing them out

It's safe — non-toxic once cured, Class 1 fire rated, no off-gassing into your living space

The Process, Step by Step

Six steps. One day. Zero guesswork.

1

The estimate — measured, not guessed

Erik — the owner — comes to your home, walks it with you, and puts real numbers on the problem: measurements of your actual wall area, thermal imaging to show where heat is escaping, and a straight answer on what it costs. Free, no pressure, no commissioned salesman working a script.

2

The before test

On installation day, the first thing we do is a blower door test: a calibrated fan in your doorway that measures precisely how much air leaks through your home. This is your "before" number — in black and white.

3

Access

  • SidingWe remove a course of siding at the injection height — vinyl, aluminum, or original wood — and set it aside for reinstallation.
  • MasonryWe drill through the mortar joints (never the brick) with a 5/8-inch bit — a hole about the size of a dime.
  • InteriorIf you'd rather we never touch the exterior, we can drill from inside through drywall or plaster, and leave a rough patch at each hole for you to sand, prime, and paint.

Every stud cavity gets located and drilled — including the short ones over windows and doors that other companies skip.

4

The fill

Foam flows into each cavity until it's completely full. We keep the thermal camera out during the injection, watching cavities fill in real time — if a section isn't filling the way it should, we see it and fix it on the spot, not after your first cold night.

5

Close up

Siding goes back on. Mortar holes get sealed with new mortar, color matched as close as possible. Drill plugs are set and sealed. We clean up like we were never there.

6

The proof

The last thing we do is the same as the first: a second blower door test and a final thermal scan. You see the before and the after, side by side — the number, and the picture. Our tests routinely measure at least 25% less air leakage — and up to 50%.

Most homes: the entire process in one day; two-story homes or anything over 1,400 sq ft: two days.

Your day, honestly:

You can stay home.

Most customers do. The work happens outside; inside you'll hear drilling and the rig running — a working-day level of noise, done by dinner.

No demolition, no dust storm.

Your rooms stay your rooms. Nothing inside is opened unless you specifically choose interior drilling.

Pets are fine

keep them inside and away from the work area like you would for any contractor visit.

When we leave

the evidence that we were there is a quieter, more comfortable house and a before-and-after report — not a mess.
