Injection foam wall insulation · Racine, WI

Racine’s older homes have character. Most of them have empty walls.

The Victorians and foursquares in the Southside Historic District, the bungalows of West Racine, the post-war ranches out toward Mount Pleasant — a lot of Racine homes were built before anyone insulated walls. Cozy Walls fills them with injection foam from the outside, in a day or two, without touching a wall in your living space.
Erik, the owner, does every Racine estimate himself.

Why Racine houses lose so much heat

Racine is one of Wisconsin’s oldest cities, and much of its housing went up long before insulated walls were standard. Add the wind off Lake Michigan, and an empty wall cavity becomes a draft you can feel from across the room.
  • 1800s and early-1900s homes near downtown and the lakefront: plaster over lath, siding over sheathing, and an empty cavity in between.
  • 1940s–60s bungalows, Cape Cods and ranches: often built with nothing in the walls. Fiberglass batts we can usually fill around; loose blown-in insulation we check for at the estimate, because foam can’t flow through it.
  • Brick homes: the same empty cavity behind a heavier wall. We drill through the mortar joints from the outside and patch to match.
The result: high heating bills, cold floors, and a house that never quite feels warm from December to March.
