Injection foam wall insulation · Elkhorn, WI

Elkhorn homes look great in the snow. Most of them let the cold right in.

The older homes around the downtown square, the post-war ranches on the edges of town, the farmhouses out in the county — many have little or nothing in the walls. Cozy Walls fills them with injection foam from the outside, in a day or two, without touching a wall in your living space.
Erik, the owner, does every Elkhorn estimate himself.

Why Elkhorn houses lose so much heat

It’s the era, not the builder. Much of Elkhorn’s housing went up before insulated walls were standard, and the open country around town means nothing slows the winter wind before it hits the house.
  • Older homes near the downtown square: plaster over lath, siding over sheathing, and an empty cavity in between.
  • Farmhouses in the surrounding towns: solid old framing with empty walls behind decades of siding.
  • 1950s–70s ranches: empty walls, or fiberglass batts we can usually fill around. Loose blown-in insulation we check for at the estimate, because foam can’t flow through it.
The result: a furnace that runs all winter and a house that still feels drafty.
